Supporting a Cause Close to Our Hearts: Welfare Call’s Macmillan Coffee Morning

Posted by on 30th September 2024

Last Friday, our team came together to host a Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning, and it was a wonderful reminder of the power of community and compassion.

Cancer is something that has touched the lives of many of our colleagues, friends, and families. It’s a battle that affects not only those diagnosed but their loved ones too. Macmillan Cancer Support has been a beacon of hope for so many, offering guidance, comfort, and practical support when it’s needed most. That’s why, as a company, we’re so committed to supporting their incredible work.

A Day filled with fun, generosity and delicious treats

Our office was buzzing with excitement as we kicked off the event. Activities included:

🎟️ Raffle Draws: A big highlight of the day was our raffle, which featured some brilliant prizes, including two highly sought-after annual leave vouchers!

🍫 Guess the Chocolates: Another popular activity was the “guess the number of chocolates in the jar” challenge—trickier than it sounds!

🎂 Baking Galore: Our team truly outdid themselves with the variety of cakes on offer. From traditional Victoria sponges to creative cupcake designs, the office was filled with baked goods that looked (and tasted!) amazing.

🏆 Baking Competition: Not only were we treated to delicious treats but we also had a friendly baking competition with prizes awarded to the 1st and 2nd place bakers.

Exceeding expectations together

Our initial target for the event was to raise £150 for Macmillan. But thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, we were able to smash that goal. By the end of the day, through donations, raffles, and cake sales, we raised an incredible £575!

A huge thank you to everyone who baked, donated, organised, and supported. It’s because of you that we were able to make such a meaningful contribution to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Why Macmillan Matters

Macmillan provides essential support for people affected by cancer. Their services range from offering information and advice to those newly diagnosed to providing emotional and financial support throughout treatment and recovery. Their work ensures that no one faces cancer alone. For those of us at Welfare Call Group, this is a cause that resonates deeply, and we’re proud to play our part in helping them continue their vital work.

There’s still an opportunity to make a difference. You can donate directly to our Macmillan Cancer Support fundraiser here and help ensure their life-changing services remain available to those who need them most.

Thank you once again to everyone who supported our coffee morning, and here’s to many more opportunities to come together, have fun, and make a positive impact.
